A pair of custom lamps circa 1960 with stacked monkeys using their arms and hands to “See No Evil, Speak No Evil, Hear No Evil”, circa 1950. Each metal candlestick is mounted on a square Lucite base and electrified to support a single candle arm topped with a handmade beaded shade. The details of the monkeys perched one atop the other is quite good and the lamps are finished on all sides. Please enlarge the photographs to see all the details in closeup. The source that popularized this pictorial maxim is a 17th century carving over a door of the famous Tosho-gu shrine in Nikko, Japan.
