Pair of large Rococo style gilt bronze and malachite candelabra
French, 20th century
Dimensions: Height 167cm, width 75cm, depth 70cm
This pair of very large malachite and ormolu candelabra are designed in the Rococo or Louis XV style. Each candelabrum is supported by four scrolled feet, each formed like a dolphin, with a large scallop shell motif in between. The malachite bodies are crafted with bulbous lower sections, tapering into slender necks, and are both richly decorated with gilt bronze mounts, which continue upwards towards the shoulders of the candelabra. Each candelabrum features eight scrolled ormolu branches across two tiers.
