Mid 20th century elm and mahogany table by Carl Bergsten circa 1930.
Beautiful table by well respected Swedish designer Carl Bergsten (1879-1935)
This table is able to extend, but is currently fixed closed, there is no leaf. This lends itself perfectly to being used as a desk. Matched elm veneers used on top surface with contrasting mahogany, with metal inlaid stringing which was typical of bergsten pieces of this period. Further metal stringing to the frieze, narrow strip of stringing has been removed.
Standing on 4 tapering legs with fluted detail.
Minor surface marks.
