A wonderful French 19th century walnut secretary/bookcase. The piece can be separated into two bodies: the lower writing surface, and the upper glass-front cabinet. The writing surface is covered in black leather and can be pulled out for additional work space. It has two small drawers on either side with space in between for books or papers. The writing surface has a height of 29-?”H and the knee clearance is 27-¾”H. The base also contains a center drawer with four drawers on either side. All are opened by a wooden knob and there are a few hidden spring loaded compartments. The top has two glass-front bookcase doors with original glass and working lock and latch. The cabinet has three adjustable shelves. This is a very impressive piece of furniture.
