A superb French 19th century Louis XVI style mahogany and ormolu desk. The desk is raised by slender tapered legs with ormolu trim finished with ormolu sabots and top crown. The impressive apron has three drawers with ormolu keyhole escutcheons and thick ormolu borders, flanked by ormolu bordered corner blocks, the sides are decorated the same.
At the top is a gold tooled leather top fitted within a mahogany border and exquisitely chased ormolu drape and tassel designed gallery. All original patina and gilt.
