On each of the four border sides are facing pairs of feng-hung (phoenix) birds with long wavy tail feathers, set around a paeony palmette. A black wiry arabesquerie supports the birds. The rose pink field shows a broken floral stem inner oval arrangement with a polychrome elaborate lotus motif in the centre. Unusual and striking avian border. Excellent condition.
